This food can sicken your parrot with a gastroenteritis and the bacterium can be passed to you from the pet or by handling the contaminated pet food. In humans, salmonella causes a gastroenteritis and systemic sepsis.
The contaminated parrot food was sold in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.
