The story for Mary Magdalene was not over, in fact, it was just the beginning. Having been rescued by Jesus and invited to a new life, a new hope, Mary Magdalene would discover on that first Easter morning exactly what Jesus meant! For Mary, something happened inside of her the moment she recognized Jesus, her hope was no longer in the situation, but in the Savior. Because of what she realized she had to tell others. She ran to tell of what she had seen, proclaiming a message so bizarre that surely no one would listen to what she was saying. Jesus had revealed himself to someone that society would never value enough to pay attention to. Jesus showed that this message of hope, this Gospel message, was made for the broken, the lost, the singled out. It was not meant to be reserved for the elite or the religious. Jesus had died and rose again for all who would believe. And all who would believe would be called to go and share what they had seen. Salvation is here, in Jesus Christ we no longer have to endure life with no hope, we can have hope for now and for all eternity because of what He has done!
