The kingdom of heaven is a completely counter-cultural ethic grounded in Godly morals. What made Jesus so offensive to His original audiences was that He wasn't affirming the cultural narrative of His day, but was proclaiming a different and new "Way" in which many would be "blessed", but for those who tried to stick to and blend their human ethic grounded in logical and reasonable approaches to life with this new kingdom ethic...Jesus was explaining that they would have a hard time with that.
