Guest: Shannon Byrne
This week's No Magic is really fun as I finally after years get to welcome Shannon Byrne to BFF.fm. She's someone I've known for years and shared all manner of musical conversations over the years, but we were never able to get her on the old show. Fortunately she's here in San Francisco so joins me on the air to talk about her current project The Process, an interview series exploring the process of survival as a creative, and plays tracks from artists she's interviewed over the past year. We also chat a bit about her music discovery community A Song a Day, and the creative resurgence of music discovery and curation online generally.
Our album of the week is the excellent new “Assume Form” from James Blake and we explore some of the notable collaborations he's put together for the record, with tracks from Moses Sumney, Mount Kimbie and so many more.
