Many think that the American Civil War had implications only in the United States. In fact, the victory of the Union over the Confederacy was a setback for the pro-slavery group at the time. After the Union victory, the republic of the United States was restored and slavery made illegal – a blow to the global slave trade and absolute monarchy. This event is also the deadliest war the United States has ever experienced.
