#4 Emmy’s Legacy - dealing with the loss of a child with Sarah Saolele

Listen Later

Mother to young daughter Willow, Sarah wanted to give her a sibling. Sarah shares her deeply personal story about the joy she and her husband Marvin experienced when they found out she was pregnant, which was followed by confusion and devastation when they found out their unborn daughter had structural problems and was unlikely to survive the pregnancy. Sarah discusses her decision to continue with the pregnancy and then meeting and then losing Emmy.

Universal themes covered include dealing with grief and feelings of isolation after losing a loved one, slowly figuring out how life can and must go on, and how as a society, we struggle to know how to discuss the most difficult topics, such as death and grief.
