On this week’s episode of Open, Emma talks to award winning entrepreneur, model, ex dancer, author, mentor and breast cancer survivor - Leanne Pero.
In 2016, Leanne was diagnosed with breast cancer and went on to set up the Black Women Rising cancer support project. The mission at Black Women Rising is to educate, inspire and bring opportunities for women from the BAME community to connect with one another and share their stories without fear or shame.
Leanne talks about her commitment to changing the false narrative amongst the BAME Community that cancer is not a “black disease” and how her own life experiences are behind her desire to offer service and make a difference whilst also being mindful of her own mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.
