The Wisdom of Life with Chad Stoloff

#4: Jani Tiilikainen on the power of Sisu, fitness, and building friendships through competition

Listen Later

Born into a family where sports have always been a big part of life. Mom was a good athlete already in elementary school in different sports and Dad played flying, nesting and pitching at the championship level. Dad happened to try tennis and then it was as if a moped got out of hand. He started coaching my brother and me. The topic of the dinner table was pretty much about tennis wins. The main question was whether did the palm pass and did the feed go? I knew when I was young that I would probably do something about tennis. When the guy then called and asked if you would come to America to study at university with a tennis scholarship then the choice was pretty easy. Brother (Kim), on the other hand, started playing professionally and toured around the world for more than 10 years and later coached many successful players and served as the captain of the Finnish Davis Cup for 10 years.

“The more you put in, the more you get out.”
