Meditation Inspiration

4. Martine Bachelor: Cultivating wisdom and compassion.

Listen Later

Martine Bachelor is one of the most impactful teachers that I have had the privilege of being taught by. In her twenties, Martine ordained as a Buddhist Nun in a monastery in Korea, where she stayed for ten years, before moving to the UK in her thirties with her husband Steven Bachelor.

Her teachings are accessible, practical and full of lightness and humour and in this episodes she shares on many helpful topics such as:

  • Meditation as a way of cultivating greater wisdom and compassion in our lives.
    • The shift from meditating as a Nun in a Korean Buddhist monastery to practicing as a newlywed in a community in the UK.
      • How there are lots of different types and styles of meditation to suit different people.
        • Stories about bringing greater kindness towards others.
          • Advice for both those new to meditation and for experienced practitioners.
          • Martine leads meditation retreats all over the world and teaches secular Buddhism and trains meditation teachers through Bodhi College > https://bodhi-college.org/

Martine also has a online course available on Tricycle called 'The Dharma of Relationships' here > https://learn.tricycle.org/p/the-dharma-of-relationships-the-paramis-in-action

Martine has also written several fabulous books which you can find here on her website > https://martinebatchelor.org/books/
