The Birth and Postpartum Diaries

4 | Molly’s Postpartum Story – “Wear Crocs, Do Pashing” – Postpartum depression, the importance of building a village and how to keep your relationship strong postpartum

Listen Later

Today Molly is back to tell us all about her postpartum journey so far. She describes what it was like to be alone in the Covid maternity ward post c-section with her newborn (as her partner Nathan wasn’t allowed into the hospital), how hard day two cluster feeding was, shares what it was like being milked by a midwife and how she adjusted to motherhood after being discharged from the hospital less than two days after giving birth.

She openly talks about her breastfeeding journey, including the way it finished earlier than expected and the fact that her mental health was more important than forcing herself to continue. Molly also discusses the importance of building a village to support you, why it’s critical to make time for your partner (and why you need to pash more often), along with the way friendships can often change post-baby.

She also candidly shares her experience with postpartum depression and how she managed to get back to being the mother and the “Molly” she wanted to be again. I loved this chat with Molly and I’m sure you will too!
