How can we expect ourselves to show up for others, when we don’t even know how to show up for ourselves?
On todays episode of the podcast, I am joined by Rochelle Jacobs, where she highlights how there is nothing selfish about practicing some self-care. This episode was a lot of fun for me. Rochelle’s energy is so infectious, you will be running off it for the rest of the week after you listen to this conversation!
In the episode, we talk about:
”Sister, put your mask on first. I know we're in COVID. And most of us want to take off of the mask, but again, you have to put on your mask first. And that starts with self-care. Putting yourself first in mind, body and spirit.”
- Rochelle Jacobs
“It's so common for women. We've been socialised to not think of ourselves, to only do what other people need us to do. To show up for all of them. And you're sitting here, sending this completely different message that says "no show up for you, Sis, because you're worth it."
- Dr. Shana D. Lewis
“So we have to remember, self-care is not selfish. It's not selfish. It's taking care of you. So that you can serve others.”
- Rochelle Jacobs
Rochelle Jacobs is P.E teacher in Texas, and is an inspiration to her students. She is also, of course, a co-author of When Destiny Needs an Intervention. Make sure to check out her chapter – For the Love of Sugar.
