I’m guessing, but I bet at one time, you were probably taught that if you just got your nest egg big enough, you could safely withdraw 8% per year and have a safe and comfortable retirement for the rest of your life without the fear of running out of money. Then someone changed that to 6% - then 4%.  And along comes this Ph.D. Professor of Retirement Income saying 4% is probably too high!  What’s the right withdrawal rate? IS there a “right” number?
