In this episode, I interview Dr. Soumya Rangarajan, a member of the clinical faculty at the University of Michigan Medical Center. She is a geriatric hospitalist, and is about 2 and a half years out of training. She started out with over $400,000 in student loans but has reduced them down to $180,000. We discuss 4 steps medical students should take to get a jump on eliminating their student loans. Those steps are:
1) Knowing the kind of financial plan you need to follow
2) Taking part in advocacy
3) Choosing the location of your employment with your financial plan in mind.
4) Seeking trustworthy financial planning training opportunities.
We conclude with a very urgent message for medical students in light of the COVID-19 pandemic taking place.
