Welcome back to MRCPI Bedside, hosted by Dr. Christine Condon and Dr. Harry Economos. This is part one of our how to guide on passing your long cases.
How to guide:
1. Get to know the layout and timing early on. Check out the RCPI page here for more information.
2. Familiarise yourself with medical conditions from the following conditions
>>> Cardiology, Respiratory, Abdominal, Endocrine, Dermatology, Neurology and Rheumatology.
3. Take each clinical encounter as the admitting doctor in ED as a mock run for your long cases.
4. Time yourself from the very start.
5. Don’t underestimate the value of a systems review.
6. Keep your examination focused.
7. Do a mock long case.
8. Reference a book when practicing to ensure that you’re not missing anything big. We recommend Rupa Bessant’s ‘The Pocketbook for PACES’. Access it here.
