The Low Car Diet

4. Utrecht

Listen Later

Join us for the fourth episode of ‘The Low Car Diet’. This time, we discover the City of Utrecht, the largest public transport hub and shared mobility frontrunner of the Netherlands.

Utrecht is a fast-growing city. To cater for this growth, the former industrial district of ‘Merwede’ is being converted into a new residential area that will become the home of 12,000 residents! Merwede has one of the lowest parking norms in the Netherlands and is designed with a focus on cycling, walking, car sharing, and public transport

.

Our host, Rebecca Karbaumer, travelled to Utrecht to learn more about this innovative site, hearing the story behind it from Nick Knoester (City of Utrecht) and Maarten Markus (AM Gebiedsontwikkeling).

Listen with us and explore how Utrecht is evolving into the sustainability capital!
