Thought for Day 11

Day 11: Fast that was commanded by the Lord

Joel 1:14

Consecrate a fast;

call a solemn assembly.

Gather the elders

and all the inhabitants of the land

to the house of the LORD your God,

and cry out to the LORD.

Usually fasting is done as voluntary act by believers.

Have you seen a fast that was commanded by the Lord?

During the time of Joel the prophet, there was heavy damage done to the land of Israel. There was locust infestation that destroyed pretty much everything. Lord admonished them by saying….awake, lament, be ashamed……

He forewarned all those as initial signs….but greater trouble comes in the “Day of the Lord”

Then he commanded a fast to be done so that they can escape the wrath.

Did you notice the “grace” of the Lord?

How gracious is our Lord that he is asking us to fast so that he can save us!!!

Phil 2:13

for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
