In this installment of the 40 Days series, we look at walking in wilderness with Ashley Martin.

Luke 4:1 'Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil.'

Wilderness tends to fill our imaginations with all sorts of things when we hear the word.  Some people thrill at the thought of adventure, testing themselves against the elements and breaking away from the world we daily inhabit.  For others of us, wilderness manifests a void, a raw expanse in which there are hard emotions and too many unknowns.

There are times we escape into the wilderness, seeking haven or reprieve, like Moses, when we seek time with God, like Jesus. We see times where God brings great encounter in wilderness.

But wilderness is also raw, crude and we are vulnerable in it.
