using documentation of their position purpose, job tasks, how they get paid, and how you will evaluate them is the best way to make it very clear!
Track behaviors / KPI
make sure you know your Income Producing Activities and keep track of how well they are doing based on the goals you have set. You can do this daily, weekly, or monthly depending on what level you are in your business. Use this as the guide to know where they may be lacking and how you can show up as the leader to help them get better. Also, this is great for knowing when it is time to increase the goals if they are not challenging enough.
Focus on what they want to accomplish in life
when you can know and understand what is important for them to achieve in their personal lives you can help us what they need to get done in their position to help them achieve those things. Keeping those in the forefront of why they need to hold to themselves accountable makes an emotional connection that is outside of just helping the business bring in revenue.
Check-in & Develop
By checking the tracked data on a consistent basis you can be aware of what is working and what isn't. Allowing you to make adjustments as needed. This is not meant to create an environment of micromanaging but as the CEO you should know. How else can you provide resources and time to develop you team in areas they may need help in.
Praise! & Correct
Praise in public so that your team can see all the things you want to happen! it will re-enforce the action and motivate others to do the same.
when it is time to correct you do that in private but do it as fast as you see an issue. Dont let that spiral into a toxic environment!
