Melissa Tavilla is the Office Manager in the Department of Physical Therapy at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in Suwanee, Georgia. There she provides administrative oversight to the day-to-day operations for ten faculty and 120 graduate students.Melissa has worked in higher education for eight years. She was a founding member of the Department of Physical Therapy at Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia, which started development in 2013. Melissa enjoyed the start-up process so much; she moved on to PCOM-Georgia to help create their DPT program.
Melissa Tavilla is a retired Chief Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force. Her service in the Tennessee Air National Guard, Air Force Reserves and Active Duty totaled 28 years.
Melissa worked in Health Services Management and Training as a traditional reserve and guard member for most of her military career. She served as a Russian Cryptologic Linguist while Active Duty until the Cold War ended.
Melissa is passionate about helping people with their personal and professional development. She probably enjoys the success of other people more than her own. Whether military or civilian, students have benefited from her knowledge, support, and wisdom from either private conversations in her office or in workshops that she delivered. Melissa hopes to begin offering development courses soon.
