February 19th 1971, two teenagers were hitchhiking down Interstate 75 near the Lake Panasoffkee Bridge in Sumter County, Florida. The pair were making their way to a Mardi Gras celebration when they saw what they thought to be a person floating in the shallow water and sadly they were right.
