This week you will hear Stacy’s story.
Stacy shares what it was like becoming a mum at 18 when she had her first son. It was only after his birth that she learned his dad had been struggling with a drug addiction, and sadly he passed away when her son was just a few months old.
Stacy reflects on that time in her life and her first experience of grief while navigating young motherhood.
Later, she went on to have another son, and years afterwards became pregnant with her daughter, an unexpected and much loved surprise.
During that pregnancy, Stacy was advised to consider a termination for medical reasons due to complications. She shares what it was like facing that advice, the love she had for her baby, and the journey that followed.
Tragically, on Christmas Day it was believed she experienced a placental abruption and her daughter sadly passed away.
Stacy now works with Ellie’s Gift, supporting families affected by baby loss, with a particular focus on termination for medical reasons. Through their work and their app, they help parents feel more supported and less alone as they navigate their grief.
Today is Mother’s Day, we know this time of year can bring many different emotions for those whose journeys through motherhood include loss, and Stacy’s story speaks powerfully to that.
