Shaking their head “no” is typically shaped by turning away from food when being fed. You can help your child learn to make the movement intentionally in many different situations to communicate “no.”

Today’s activity: When your child doesn’t want something, shake your head and say, “no” to model the word. Stop the action at least temporarily to let them know you understood their message.
