4.156 LANGUAGE: Using Speech: Turn taking with varied babbling

Listen Later

Your child will pay lots of attention to your face and voice as you talk face-to-face. You can see them moving their mouth as if they are trying to do it like you.

Skills that develop include: babble with lots of varied intonation, use vowels and several consonants in their babbling, say a few words like mama and dada, use an exclamation like uh-oh, try to imitate some sounds or words, take turns in babbling with you.

Today’s activity: Babble back and forth, using some variety. Start by imitating your child’s sounds then mix in a new one, Use an intonation pattern they might imitate.
