4.162 LITERACY: Reading: Let child be the reader

Your child is more familiar with books and can turn the pages independently. They want to do more on their own, so decide which books they can have on their own.

Continue to guide your child’s use of books to demonstrate how to read them, but let your child hold the book and turn the pages to what they want to see.

Today’s activity: When reading together, put one finger under the next page so it’s easy for your child to turn one page. Let your child control the book and what page to look at. Get board books from the library.
