Here we are, about to embark on road trip number 42, and this week we had a lot of choices. But where to stop? That is the question.

Well, we spend a little time in London, England at Morgan studios where The Who are putting their finishing touches on a classic rock song. The Who is a band we have not visited during our road trips, so it is nice to catch up with them and their first rock opera (not THE first rock opera, but their first).

Then it is off to Washington, D.C. for the start of a music tradition, the gold record. The standard to determine how many copies a record sells. Every band hopes to one day see their record in a frame in gold. But where and when did this tradition start?

Finally, back to England (this time Birmingham) to visit the launch of a new band called Black Sabbath. Here Ozzy and company roll out their debut album. And how is it connected to Jethro Tull???

All this, plus one of the most important events in rock history during our Memphis to Mersey segment. We've got a lot of charts, talk and even a corny old joke! All that, this week on Episode 42 of The Way-Back Music Machine Podcast.
