The biblical narrative takes place in a very specific context and culture that is sometimes challenging for the Western mind to understand: the honor and shame culture. When we read the Bible stories through the lens of the values of honor and shame, we have a more accurate understanding of their real meaning. In the second part of this two-part interview, Gaby Phillips, Adventist Muslim Relations Director for the North American Division, talks to Dr. Philip Samaan, retired professor from Southern Adventist University and a prolific author, about the deeper meaning of Jesus’ ministry and sacrifice.
