This Sunday is sometimes called "Shepherd Sunday." Jesus says in John 10:11-21 that he is the "Good Shepherd." He is placing himself in the role of shepherd just as David saw God's shepherding love in Psalm 23. Those that follow the Good Shepherd then must be sheep. What do you know about sheep?  Not much.  But sheep sure keep the Shepherd busy. We rely upon the Shepherd for food, rest, protection, community and good hygiene.  He takes away our fear no matter where we walk. The Good Shepherd even lays down his life for the sheep.  We are much more familiar with cats, dogs and maybe birds, but sheep?  Not so much.  How much do you depend on God?  What about what the Good Shepherd does for us leads us to thankfulness, sacrificial love and a desire to be transformed?  Where would we be without the Good Shepherd?
