In our Deep Dive: The Supreme Court’s 6-3 Conservative majority was supposed to signal a type of judicial groupthink not experienced since the liberal majorities of the court in the 60s, however, in its early innings the court has disappointed those forecasting doom. Do ideological & political differences have less to do than we thought - in how the justices do their justice thing?

Is the recent decision by US Catholic bishops to prepare a document emphasizing teaching in areas that directly relate to catholic politicians a politically inspired rebuke of a Catholic president made by a conservative cadre of religious superiors? OR is it a doctrinal explanation to an increasingly irreligious country at a time of deep disregard for a core teaching of the faith?
Does the en-masse resignation of an entire police unit signify the deep solidarity of an embattled police force unfairly maligned? OR does it illustrate the very thin blue line that last year’s BLM protests sought to highlight and eradicate?
And finally... Is the outing of medical colleagues by a prominent virologist with respect to the Wuhan lab leak theory for Covid a brave decision by a medical professional putting global health over political correctness, OR is another in a line of sad examples of the damage President Trump caused when politicizing the pandemic?
