REMORANDOM Everything Interesting

43: Bob Mankoff | The New Yorker Cartoon Editor

Listen Later

Remo’s special guest for this episode of the REMORANDOM video podcast is Bob Mankoff. Bob was the cartoon editor for The New Yorker magazine for nearly twenty years, and before that he was a New Yorker cartoonist for another twenty years. Today, as president of cartoonstock.com, the world’s largest archive of single-panel cartoons, he continues pushing the boundaries of AI humour comprehension and creation while ensuring that humans remain in control and in the loop. Bob and Remo chat about the essence of humour, what makes something funny and the relevance of AI in all of that. It’s a thought-provoking and interesting conversation.

About REMO

REMO was founded as a General Store in Sydney in 1988, and was famous for its mail order catalogues. Those catalogues were the inspiration for REMORANDOM, but this new leg of the REMO journey is not so much about selling THINGS, as it is about telling STORIES … in celebration of what’s interesting. Inspiring curious minds.
