Ty was born and raised in Texarkana, Texas - upon graduating high school Ty decided to attend the University of Central Arkansas where he obtained his bachelors degree in Public Relations and Communication. It was there when he found his passion for higher education.

Ty did not stop after his bachelors degree, he went on to earn his Masters of Education in Higher Education from Texas Tech University! He’s spent the last few years finding his way in higher education, currently he resides in Gainesville, Florida and serves as the Assistant Director of Transition Programs and a professor at the University of Florida.

During this conversation, we learn more about Ty’s story of growing up as a Black Queer man, but really understanding how to love yourself! Ty is the perfect example of what it means to love yourself. We also understand what truly ignytes his why and his purpose in life.
