TAKE HOME POINTS FROM DR. VANESSA CALDERON

  1. Whatever you decide is going to happen will happen. If you decide all marriages will end in conflict and divorce, plan for a divorce. If you decide when conflict arises, you will work through it, you will work through it.
    1. Do it for the right reasons. Not for someone to complete you, to feel loved, for status or money.
  2. Look at the bigger picture during conflicts. Remember you are not the only one suffering.
    1. Being a compassionate leader
    2. Calling people out with compassion. Have the courage to have difficult conversations but come from a place of love
    3. Trust and transparency: Any questions and topic is allowed
  3. How to teach resilience:
  4. How you do one thing, is how you do everything.
  5. Wanting to be loved is different than needing to be loved.

WALK AWAY ASKING YOURSELF

  • How can I lead with more self-compassion
  • How do I feel about conflict in my relationship?
  • Can I tell the difference between anger and sadness when I am in an argument? If so, how?
  • How can I prevent physician burnout...both for myself and for those around me?
  • Do I trade my time for money?
