Marriner Wood Merrill's mother was one of the first people to be baptized outside of the USA in Sackville New Brunswick. As a young man Marriner had a visionary dream where he saw Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, the migration of the Saints to the Great Basin. He saw himself settling this vast frontier and having several families. Divine intervention preserved him on more than one occasion. His work ethic and determination directed him to become a pioneer, and industrialist in the early settlements of the Saints. His posterity is now one of the largest lines in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
