The Upright Citizens Brigade can refer to a few related things. There is the original improv troupe of comedian, writer, performers. There is the theater and associated bicoastal comedy school those members founded. And, then there is also the Comedy Central 1998 Television show that debuted their characters and styles to the wider public beyond Chicago and New York. Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh are founders and stars of that TV show. In 2013, they published a guidebook for comedy: The Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Improvisation Manual.
