Your typical car will emit near 5 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. Multiply that by the number of drivers in the world and the figure becomes scarily high. Electric or hybrid cars are one way to put a plug in greenhouse gas emissions but how do they work? And will they ever come down in price?
