The "shot heard 'round the world" which set the American Revolution in motion was in response to a tyrannical government trying to confiscate guns and ammunitions from its citizens. With this experience fresh in the Founding Father's minds it is no wonder why they made the right to bear arms the second amendment to the Constitution. 

We have a gun problem in the United States. There may not be a better example of extreme ways of thinking and a refusal to compromise than the debate on gun control. We often look at this issue with an all or nothing mentality, but does it have to be that way?
