Robert Black was given up by his birth mother and spent several years in residential homes after his foster mother passed away when he was 11. He recalled that he began having an extreme fascination with female genitalia from as young as five years old, which only continued to escalate as he got older. By the time he was in his mid-30s, his obsession with young girls coupled with the trauma of his own sexual assaults as a child, led Black to kidnap, rape, and murder young girls while he worked as a delivery driver. The freedom of being on the road gave him multiple opportunities to target his victims and then fade into the background without police being able to track him. It wasn’t until he was seen kidnapping a 6-year old girl in Scotland that police were able to identify him and arrest him. Black was charged and convicted in the murders of four girls, ages 5 to 11, by the time he passed away in prison in 2016 but he was suspected in nearly a dozen other disappearances and murders.
