We have all heard the parenting mantra of "you get what you get and you don't get upset" or "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit". The idea behind this phrase is likely frustrated parents who are "done" with their children always wanting things their way and as a way of telling the child, nicely, to suck it up buttercup!
Today we are going to talk about why some childhood specialists don't like this phrase and why I think it's actually a great one - with one caveat!
