In his youth he received a vision of his pre-mortal life and knew he had chosen his mortal journey.. He led an amazing life as a cripple. Miracles attended his painful labored existence as he left his native land and came to Zion. His appearance repulsed those who saw him, this caused him emotional pain. He quietly suffered through emotional and physicalpain and humiliation his entire life. As he labored in the newly opened Temples in Utah, he came to his own.
