👩🏻Vicky Nguyen, was in the news industry for a decade working as a crime reporter, investigative reporter, enterprise storyteller, field producer and more. She did it all, a skill us journalists know well. In march 2022 she decided to quit the news industry, like many of us have chosen to do in the last two years. 

📺During her time at one of the news stations, as she was getting ready to re-negotiate her contract, she had a conversation with a colleague –whom she’s friends with– and they realized this person was earning $27,000 more doing the same job as her and taking on less responsibilities than she was. For example, this person was not doing live shots and Vicky was.

📹Vicky was the vice president of the LA chapter of AAJA (Asian American Journalist Association), Before leaving news, Vicky earned the Best Television News Reporting award issued by Radio & Television News Association of Southern California, and she earned an Emmy award for the Best Evening Newscast in 2015. 

🗣She is now a communications manager at the Orange county department of education.
