fingernails 3/30/03

I scratch the surface
done broke a nail
it's ingrown with mold
that pavement with glass
and residue of partygoers
must be washed off of my fingernails
the stink is killing me

I release my infection thru
red paint and chalked outlines
all the way down the 13th floor
with a smile on my face, plain as day
in this instance, it's just a remedy
far from those reminders of sitting in my room for hours
clipping fingernails
