4am Challenge

Listen Later

4am!

As you read this we were up at 4 AM!  For years I have gone through life getting up between 5 AM to 7 AM. This would vary depending on whether it was a weekday or weekend. Then there were fun occasions where I went to work at 3 AM or I worked overnight which would alter this a bit.  As I looked over my goals as to what I was achieving and failing to achieve, I I realized the same pattern correlated in them. Ups/downs. Do I feel that we should hit 100% percent of our goals? No! If we truly are, we need to readjust and aim higher, but that’s another topic!  The point being is that my life was a mini roller coaster. I’ve hit a goal and missed two or three, or even four! For me it came down to discipline. What did I expect of myself? Did I hold myself fully accountable? The obvious answer was no! I watch a sermon where the pastor mentioned doing just one thing every day without missing and that it was as simple as flossing! I started there and  this quickly lead to another habit, and another! I currently drink over 80 onces of water per day, and have many other healthy habits. Then I have my office/ business goals that we review daily! Starting with one small thing definitely can have a domino effect!  I have a group of friends that challenge each other daily/weekly. I  complete my goals/results on Google drive as a shared document here my results are displayed to see every week!. I like that accountability as it keeps me on track. What’s one thing in your life that you could change (small) for the better? ____________________ Let’s commit to it today! Maybe you don’t have one, well  we’re about to identify an opportunity.

 4am!   What’s the 4 AM challenge?

It’s a mind shift change! Total shift! Why?The first answer is, it’s different, it’s difficult, and there’s just something magical about 4 AM that makes getting up at 4 AM tough, but totally manageable!  My buddy Jason brought up the 4 AM idea. I gave the idea a few days tossing it over in my head and then said let’s do this for one month. We did! At first we thought about doing the challenge on just the weekdays! But then we already got up on the weekdays early. Then back to my failed goal success rate….. Not great! I needed to go all in! I needed to commit fully! A challenge of accountability brought up the fact that we would need to make a daily post on social media and tag each; other liking and commenting to ensure compliance. So Jason, Dan (another buddy) and I got busy! Soon you realize it's so much more than just 4 AM. If your coffee drinker you’ll want to ensure that you have that around, as it came in handy throughout this 28 day challenge.  Morning routine: I have a morning routine that I follow. It starts with making my bed! It’s a mindset thing. You have to complete one thing right out of the gate, to check it off the list, and for me making my bed is it!  Now it’s on to prayer at and I’ve got this relaxation, breathing program on my Fitbit that I follow every morning.  Next it’s time for a glass of water, then stretching, and now onto my devotional on my Bible app on my smartphone. I do my reading while drinking a cup of coffee this seems to wake me up. Now I do social media out reach. The trick to this is to go in on Facebook and scroll through your friends comments and make at least 10 positive comment post on Facebook, and 10 on Instagram. Starting up this way my mornings keeps me consistent and allows me to wake up.  I’d like you to write down a minimum of five morning routines that you will commit to this moment starting now!

What is it is part of my morning you said that during your weekly planning session which is done on Sunday evenings. This is for the growth begins  This routine may not work for you but it’s a start.
