4Ezra, chapter 7....Ezra asks the question about life after death for the wicked, and if the living righteous can pray for them after the wicked have died. Many cult religions believe in some sort of purgatory or ability to redeem dead loved ones who have no gone to Heaven. However, this is not true. Once the spirit leaves the body, there is not repentance or turning back. No person can pray for the dead. Although the righteous and strong can pray for the sinner while still alive.
Then we see at the end of this chapter how God sees us, his creation. Ezra extols God's patience, mercy, and long-suffering towards us.
