Psalm 89: 1-2; 30-34

I. Sin can stored as a generational curse.

“If your children commit adultery and fall into sin I will chasten them with the rod…but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.”

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected me and forgotten my word, I will forget your children…because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”

II. A blessing from generation to generation.

“But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s mercy is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children…”

“His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.”

“I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.”

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.”
