Listen Later

Taekwondo has been impactful to Richard Thomas, far more than he could ever have imagined when he first signed up as a 7 year old. Starting out, Richard, the discipline in the 80's were far different than what the students now-a-days would expect. The classes were intense, and the sparring was nothing that would qualify within today's safety protocols.

The integrity and discipline, also through sparring, led Richard to training and competing for the Olympics. Sideline by injury, Richard took a deep look within and reevaluated the sport he was born to do. That reset from injuries keeping Richard out of the Olympics led him into becoming an instructor, which opened up a new world of training Richard didn't see nor expect.

Learn how martial arts instills life lessons anyone can carry throughout their life, to enrich their life and others around them. Also, Richard talks about becoming a Black Belt and what it takes to rise amongst the ranks to achieve Grand Master status.
