I have to admit: when iPad first came out, I really didn’t want it. I liked doing business through my laptop and iPhone. But after 3 months of working with this show, I was surprised and impressed. Now, I cannot see a day where this device wasn’t part.
iPad has helped with business, and more. Not only is it something I see me using every day, but if I was a boss with employees (especially sales people), I would make sure they had one.
The other day, I was asked “Why should I buy an iPad?” I gave him many reasons. But as I started thinking about it, I have already given 90 reasons why you should get one. Therefore, I thought I would go over why you should look at an Apple iPad as an employee, or as a boss looking for employee computers.
5. Thousands of apps to make your job easier.
Whether you’re a sales person, an IT pro heading to a remote office, a CEO showing off your numbers to the board or whatnot, there is an app for that. Make it work for you. For example, a couple months ago I talked about Dragon Dictation – an app that allows you to turn your ipad into a dictation tool. I also talked about Omniline of apps like OmniOutliner and OmniFocus for everyday tasks
4.Communication
We have looked at apps that will keep you in full communication to your office. Whether it be Skype, or a program like GotoMeeting. Another program we talked about – text+ – will let you keep in contact with colleagues, family and friends when you can’t have your phone turned on. That is an important feature. You can also email on your phone, but think about it – a 10″ screen to open up the whole email, instead of a 4.3 inch screen? Definitely a no-brainer.
3. Presentation
Anywhere – With the ability to add a video dongle, or just go wirelessly to an AppleTV, you have many options to present your ideas. With a program like GoToMeeting, you don’t even need to be in the same room. With Printer Pro, I showed you could even print your documents to leave an impression with a client.
2. Downtime
Statistics show that if you put a little fun in your business, then you are more productive. Just as long as you don’t play Angry Birds all day. I like to play Monopoly while on a long flight. I can also watch a show or movie, which is really nice. Word games like Words with Friends can stimulate a mind, and you might just learn a new word you can use for that meeting.
1. Information at your fingertips
Think about it – having info like this can be a great asset. If someone asks for sales numbers, or to see your company at work, you can pull it up. Faster than a laptop, and a lot larger than a mobile phone. You can push the video to a screen, or just put the iPad in the center of the table and show your ideas. I talked a few weeks back about Roambi Analytics Visualizer, which you can load in stats from Salesforce, Excel or another document and show them real-time stats.
