The embodiment of Gratitude, lets talk more about this in this episode- Day 2 of the 5 Day Self Love Experience
Society has instilled in us the desire for more. When we find what we're looking for, we get a rush of dopamine. The thrill wears off, and we return to our never-ending quest for more. There is always more.
We miss out on the joy of gratitude, because we have a tendency to want more and to be dissatisfied with what we have. Being grateful and appreciating our life as it is, is necessary for truly enjoying it. By shifting our focus, we can alter our perception, our energy and our vibration.
Gratitude is a way of BEING. We believe the power of Gratitude is not the ACT but in the ENERGY that arrives when we are in the act of gratitude. The next time you thank someone and sense the authentic gratefulness within your heart, notice the ‘experience’ or ‘energy’ that is evoked. This energetic elevation or frequency has the power to transform you, those you interact with, AND the physical space you occupy. It has the power to heal, create, manifest, love, and attract. It has the power to change your perspective, open your heart, envision new solutions, change how you are in relationships, or simply to re-energize and lift your mood.
Gratitude, however, is more than rote politeness or a calculated strategy to keep the gifts coming. Being grateful is linked to higher levels of life satisfaction, optimism, vitality, helpfulness, empathy, forgiveness, and positive affect. Gratefulness broadens our perspective on life, allowing us to be more creative and insightful. Gratitude also reduces feelings of envy, negativity, depression, and anxiety.
Your actions are so tiny compared to how powerful it can be when you get into better alignment with your higher energy. Tapping into gratitude is the easiest most powerful way to allow your energy to vibrate on a higher frequency. And it's as “easy” as thinking thoughts that are good.
The bottom line here is that in order to experience something positive such as gratitude, we must first be real with ourselves about what we are feeling in that moment. Whether it be grief, anger, envy, or shame, the only way out is through. Validating what we are actually feeling—no matter how painful or "wrong" it seems. Opens us up to the awareness and truth BENEATH what we are feeling, THEN we can move toward understanding and acceptance. In order to shift toward gratitude, we must surrender. Only then can we give rise to the reward of gratitude, appreciation or self love & compassion.
So, the next time you are struggling to cultivate gratitude or any positive feeling, start by asking yourself, "What is getting in the way of me feeling grateful (or happy, or proud)?" Then, work with yourself as you would a friend who is struggling. Get still, zoom out and investigate with an open mind and gather information about how feeling angry or afraid or jealous makes sense. This is the practice of acceptance, which ultimately leads to true positivity, gratitude and self love.
