St Maria Faustina Kowalska was the first saint to be canonised in the new millenium. Her name is forever linked to the Divine Mercy. She recorded her visions of the suffering Jesus in her diary from the age of 19. In one of her journal entries, she described an image of Jesus where from His robe and where His heart was, a red and pale light were visible. Jesus told Faustina to paint this picture of Him with the words, "Jesus, I trust in You!". Two years later, the image of the Divine Mercy which we are familiar with today, was painted by her confessor's colleague.
