A Good Starting Point

Roosevelt Purificationâs book, The Five Pillars of Success, is a short read on five different âfuelsâ that you need to be successful in your career. The advice given is practical and concrete in how it can be used. Each fuel is broken up into different segments that offer explanations and examples to help the reader put the principle into context and action.

Thereâs a lot of information in this small book that can be helpful to those struggling with productivity and balance in their career. I liked the way the concepts were explained first and then examples or practical advice on how to put the concept to use in the real world were given after it. Each concept addressed several different aspects as well which made the book seem more inclusive and balanced. The theme of âfuelâ in each of the concepts makes them easy to remember and brings cohesiveness to the book as well. The book is laid out nicely and there are minimal grammar errors.

Although this book doesnât cover anything in depth it is a good starting point for those wishing to improve their productivity in work as well as make some life changes to do that. Itâs a good starting point. I think it would more even more interesting if the author expanded on these concepts and wrote a more comprehensive analysis of each concept but this work is dense and helpful in itself and takes no longer than half an hour to read.

I felt like the author was speaking directly to me

5 Pillars of Success is a handbook for anyone who needs a little guidance with their professional life, but the guidelines can be used in areas of your personal life as well. In the very first paragraph, I felt like the author was speaking directly to me. As he said, it is all in the mindset. When you can master the mindset, you can get everything accomplished. He further states that you should watch the wording you use, like should and must.
