In this episode of the Overgivers Anonymous Podcast, we’re going to talk about five planning mistakes that we've all made. I have made them and I have learned from them. I'm here to talk to you about them so you don’t have to make them anymore!
Highlights:
When you over-plan your time you get frustrated because there is no way you can fulfill your expectations.
Block off sections of time to work on specific tasks. Allow yourself to work within that time block on only those specific things. This is different from micromanaging your schedule.
The time blocking works really well when you know how long jobs take to do. If you don’t already know how long a task takes to complete, the action of creating a time block allows you to create time boundaries. This will prevent one duty to take over your entire day.
If you have a team, are you allowing your team member to help with the planning? You are planning the BIG PICTURE that you can see from 30,000 feet above, but then you're like “hey, I need you to take this 30,000-foot view and break it down for me into the different pieces that we're going to execute throughout the year”
When you have too many people sharing opinions, ideas and thoughts - can actually derail what's happening in your business.
Not scheduling your life outside work.
You are not successful because you forgot what the plan was! Not only did you forget it, you didn't tell your team about it, or you told your team but they forgot about it, and you didn't reinforce it.
Not using the tools you have.
I hope that you have a fantastic week and I hope that you not only plan your week, but you make sure that you're not over planning your time. I hope you are looking at ways to delegate things to your team members. When you create an amazing team you can create time for yourself outside of work. Keep your eye on your plan! I encourage you to look at your plan monthly, quarterly, yearly, weekly, to make sure you are on track. Be sure that all of your tools are easily accessible as you strive for success.
