Matthew 18:21-35
“The Community Prescription” Are your relationships replaceable?
Main Idea: God Desires his people to reconcile their relationships in the same measure he has reconciled with us. Reconciliation requires Humility. Matthew 7:3-5 Matthew 6:14-15 1 John 1:9-10 Christ gave up his Heavenly throne for a human nature.
Do you want to be Right or do you want to be in Relationship? Reconciliation Requires Commitment to God’s Kingdom Agree on Values, not Positions Paul and John Mark Conflict Acts 13:13 Acts 15:36-40 2 Timothy 4:11 Reconciliation Requires Mercy 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 Those who Offend need transformation, not wrath. Mercy is NOT getting what you DO deserve. Grace IS getting what you DO NOT deserve. Forgiveness Frees You from the prison of offense.
DL Moody: "I believe this is keeping more people from having power with God than any other thing, they are not willing to cultivate the spirit of forgiveness. If we allow the root of bitterness to spring up in our hearts against someone, our prayer will not be answered
Decide: Will you Reconcile with others in the same way God has reconciled with you?
